Pediatric Evaluation and Treatment Team (PETT)

The Pediatric Evaluation and Treatment Team  originated in 2000 as an inpatient rehabilitative support team for the expanding Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Womack Army Medical Center. The team was staffed with a Pediatric Audiologist, Physical and Occupational Therapist, Pediatric Dietitian and Early Intervention Program Manager. The early intervention part of the team (Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Early Intervention Specialist) provide inpatient and outpatient evaluation and treatment services to military dependents birth – 36 months of age. Nutrition and Audiology services are available for pediatric patients of all ages. The team works collaboratively with EDIS and civilian early intervention programs to insure that children with special needs arriving at or leaving Ft. Bragg are appropriately linked with early intervention services. PETT specializes in evaluation and treatment of high risk preterm infants and children with complex medical and developmental conditions and work closely with the child's medical team to provide the highest quality, best clinical practices in early intervention services. All services are provided at Womack Army Medical Center.                       

    In addition to individual appointments with therapists and clinicians, the  Pediatric Evaluation and Treatment Team provide the following multidisciplinary clinics:

        Neonatal Developmental Follow-up Clinic

  • Initial evaluation by Dietitian and Early Intervention Specialist within one week of NICU discharge
  • Ongoing clinical monitoring by the entire team for infants born at 34 weeks or less and other high risk infants based on physician’s referral (frequency based on child and family needs )
  • Available for infants born at WAMC or other medical facilities

         Pediatric Feeding Evaluation Clinic

  • Evaluation and treatment (as available) for variety of Pediatric feeding difficulties secondary to medical, developmental and behavioral issues
