Additional Guidance
Although compost has been designated by EPA as a recycled content product, it is both a recycled content product and a biobased product.
The revised FAR clause 52.223-2, Affirmative Procurement of Biobased Products Under Service and Construction Contracts, requires contractors to report annually "on the product types and dollar value of any USDA-designated biobased products purchased by the Contractor during the previous Government fiscal year." Agencies are required to identify an environmental point of contact to receive this information.
Identifies the applicable environmental program(s) and any minimum content levels (applicable to products containing biobased content or recovered materials only) recommended for federal purchases.
Lists sources where federal buyers may purchase the identified green product, including the applicable GSA Multiple Award Schedule, GSA Global Supply, AbilityOne, and UNICOR. Note that GSA sources do not currently identify Design for the Environment labeled products. Since not all products offered by these sources meet applicable green purchasing requirements, buyers must verify that products purchased meet the desired environmental criteria.
Lists federal requirements related to the purchase of this item, including applicable Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements
