Providing current address information to representatives

Can Social Security provide me with a current address to locate a claimant who has moved and not paid my representative fee?

Social Security only discloses information to appointed representatives whose authority has not expired.

A representative's appointment ends when:

  • We make a determination or decision, issue any required notices, and the appeals period expires;
  • The representative submits a fee petition and declares the services have ended;
  • The claimant advises us that he or she has revoked the representative's authority;
  • The representative advises us of withdrawal from the case; or
  • Our decision to suspend or disqualify the representative has become final.

However, Social Security may disclose information to representatives if we receive a specific request signed by the claimant, such as on form SSA-3288 (Consent for Release of Information).
