COMPLIANCE BRANCH MISSION

The mission of the Environmental Compliance Branch (ECB) is to support all Fort Bragg military operations and civilian activities by ensuring that the installation maintains the highest level of environmental compliance. Fort Bragg is committed to being an environmental steward of natural resources and protecting training lands for future generations. The ECB works to include environmental considerations in the early planning stages of all projects, thus ensuring that environmental issues do not become training distracters.

On October 1 2009, North Carolina became the first state in the Southeast to ban plastic bottles from landfills. Rigid plastic containers with resin codes 1-7 must be recycled. The plastic containers can be stored in the collection bins provided by the Environmental Compliance Office. Plastic containers can be dropped off at the Recycling Facility, Building 3-1240, Monday - Friday from 0730-1600. Please contact the recycling office for detailed information at 396-5323.



4-21-2012 The Fort Bragg Directorate of Public Works (DPW) Environmental Division (ED) will host a Household Electronic Waste Recycling Event on April 21, 2012.  Unwanted household electronics (anything with a plug or that operates on batteries to exclude large appliances) will be collected between the hours of 1100 and 1500 at a designated collection point in both the North and South Post PX parking lots, as well as at the Linden Oaks Community Center.  Examples of household electronics that will be accepted free of charge include: computer monitors, CPUs, laptops, printers, scanners, keyboards, USB cables, mouse, televisions, video game systems, video games, CDs, DVDs, and telephones. You may also drop-off any other recyclable materials at the event.  Recyclables are accepted free of charge Monday through Friday between the hours of 0730 and 1600 at the DPW Recycling Facility located behind Bldg. 3-1137.  Computer hard drives should be removed and destroyed prior to turn-in; however, the destroyed hard drives should be turned in for recycling. Government-owned electronic equipment will not be accepted. Government-owned electronic equipment should be turned in to DRMO for proper processing and recycling.   For further details please contact Pollution Prevention Manager (432-8450) or the Hazardous Waste Office (396-2141).
