Description:
USAID provides support to the Government of Ethiopia in establishing and managing a robust contraceptive logistics system. The DELIVER project strengthens the Pharmaceutical Fund and Supply Agency, which is responsible for procurement forecasting, quantification, distribution, and management of essential drugs, contraceptives and other health commodities at different levels of the Ethiopian health care system. Through the implementation of the Integrated Pharmaceutical Master Plan, focus will be placed on Logistics Management Information System in hospitals, woredas (districts) and Regional Health Bureaus. This support includes upgrading hospital and health center storerooms in an effort to reduce the number of health facilities experiencing stock-outs, especially of contraceptives.
Expected Results:
- Refine, implement, and train health service providers on the Integrated Health Management Information System
- Support the Government of Ethiopia to implement a new Integrated Pharmaceutical Logistics System
- Upgrade hospital and health center warehouses and storerooms
- Reduce the percentage of service delivery points experiencing stock-out of contraceptives to less than 10%
