United States donates Explosive Analysis Equipment to Colombian CTI

May 4, 2009

U.S. Ambassador William R. Brownfield, on behalf of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Fire Arms, and Explosives (ATF), donated on April 30 two post-blast kits to the Attorney General’s Office Investigative Unit (CTI for its acronym in Spanish).

The post blast kits are worth $30,000 dollars and will help process, document, and investigate the site of a bomb explosion or an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). This equipment complements the explosive training FTA provides the CTI.

Martin Young, ATF Assistant Attaché in Colombia, and Fernando Marquez, CTI Investigations Director, were also present at the donation.
