Security Jam

Square Banner 300x250Between 19 – 23 March 2012 ACT will partner with the European Commission/European External Action Service, EUCOM and the US Mission to NATO in a worldwide, 24/7, online, unclassified, brainstorming event.

The event will discuss a wide spectrum of security issues and it is expected that up to 10,000 stakeholders in security issues from many nations and communities of interest will participate.

The subject will be split into 8 fora such as Crisis Response, Facing the Cyber Challenge and Strategic Partnerships with further details on the event organisers web site.

Navigating through this web site will enable you to register as a "jammer", read background information provided by the partners, understand more about the execution of the event, access information from the previous event in 2010 and obtain information about the partners involved.

The outcome of the event will be recommendations to senior NATO and EU leadership on potential solutions to meet the pressing needs of today's security environment, particularly those addressed during the event.

The outcome will be based on the analysis of "jammers" comments by internationally recognised Think Tanks.

ACT’s Interest

One of ACT’s major objectives is the transformation of NATO. This means leading, facilitating and advocating change and continuous improvement of Alliance capabilities in order to maintain and enhance the relevance and effectiveness of the Alliance; future security is our business.

However, ACT does not presume to be the font of all knowledge or the arbiter of good taste. For ACT, the ability to have up to 10,000 individuals commenting on security issues provides an opportunity for us to take advantage of innovative thought and understand the views of a significant number of individuals involved or with an interest in security.

The end result for ACT should be a greater understanding of issues and, more importantly, innovative solutions to security issues that we are all wrestling with.

Your Involvement

Success of the event will not be possible without the involvement of individuals who have a view and ideas on how to solve security problems.

These could be private soldiers, Generals, academics, members of NGOs, students, businessmen/women, government employees, and so on.

In essence, as you are reading this then it is likely that you are one of those who need to register as a "jammer".

The importance of this is reflected in ACT staff members being encouraged to participate and provide their input as individuals, not NATO employees; innovative solutions requires free thought.

So, sign up, provide input, make a difference! If you have been redirected here from the event site and wish to find out more about ACT, click on Home and surf...
