Three processes cooperate to deliver capabilities needed by warfighters: the requirements process (JCIDS); the acquisition process (DAS); and the program and budget development process (PPBE). Includes links to DoD and Service policies, guidance, tools, and resources:

Workforce

Encyclopedic source of acquisition policy that follows a hierarchy of policy issuance (i.e., executive, legislative, federal, etc.) and filtered according to organization, career field, and special topics.

of Practice

Links to communities of practice and special interest areas, the latest contribution and discussion posts for open ACC communities, community highlights, and links to related communities.

Information on training and continuous learning that supports DoD acquisition, information that helps manage professional training portfolios, and information on training available from DAU and DoD and Services activities.

DAP

The Defense Acquisition Portal (DAP) provides a central and organized point of access to AT&L resources and information. The DAP is the trusted source of acquisition news, web sites, training opportunities and other relevant information. Specifically, the DAP provides direct links to DoD acquisition policies, including USD(AT&L) memoranda, Federal Acquisition Regulation, and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement, as well as department and service guidance and instructions.

 

DAU

The mission of the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) is to provide practitioner training, career management, and services to enable the AT&L community to make smart business decisions and deliver timely and affordable capabilities to the warfighter. The vision of the faculty and advisors at DAU is to enable the AT&L workforce to achieve the right acquisition outcomes.

 

ACC

The Acquisition Community Connection (ACC) is a collaboration environment that focuses on acquisition-related topics and disciplines such as contracting, logistics, program management, and risk management. It consists of Communities of Practice, Special Interest Areas, and collaborative workspaces that connect people with knowledge across DoD organizations and industry; enable members to interact and share resources, ideas, and experiences to support job performance and avoid duplication of effort; and identify partnership development opportunities.

 

BPCh

The Best Practices Clearinghouse (BPCh) is an innovative knowledge repository that improves DoD acquisition processes by helping programs select and implement proven practices appropriate to the individual program needs. The BPCh focuses on software acquisition and systems engineering.

ACQuipedia

ACQuipedia is an online encyclopedia of common defense acquisition topics. Each topic article includes a definition, context narrative, and links to the most pertinent policy, guidance, tools, practices, and training. ACQuipedia provides the acquisition workforce with quick access to information in a succinct and digestible format.

PM Toolkit

The DAU Program Manager’s Tool Kit contains a graphic summary of acquisition policies and managerial skills frequently required by DoD program managers.

RoadMap

The DoD Integrated Product Support Implementation Roadmap is a tool to help the Defense Acquisition Workforce understand and build the best product support package in support of the Warfighter.

The “List View” is a compact list of Product Support activities and outputs required. The “Timeline View” shows activities and outputs over the total lifecycle.

DAG

The Defense Acquisition Guidebook (DAG) provides links to policy, law, and useful content housed in communities of practice. It allows users to navigate through the DAG via a document index, graphical interface (Life Cycle System), or a search by topic.

Revisions include new or revised business practices associated with the WSARA, the BBP initiatives, implementation of the Improving Milestone Process Effectiveness policy, and requirements based on various DTMs. In addition, new chapters have been added for Business Systems, Program Protection, and Acquisitions of Services.

 

ILC

This Integrated Life Cycle Chart is a pictorial road map of key activities in the systems acquisition process. Users navigate through a graphical model of the three major acquisition process areas: Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS); Defense Acquisition; and Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPB&E).

 

AAP

Ask a Professor (AAP) is a service offered by faculty and advisors of DAU. Users submit acquisition-related questions and receive formal responses. In addition, AAP contains a database of questions and answers that are categorized by subject area and can be browsed or searched.

 

Media

The DAU Media Library provides live and pre-recorded videos and briefs on topics within the career fields taught at the Defense Acquisition University; as well as messages from the Undersecretary of Defense for AT&L, and DAU HQ corporate media.

 

Acker

The mission of David D. Acker Library and Knowledge Repository is to support the curriculum of DAU and the research, consulting, and professional development of its staff, faculty, and students. The library collects, preserves, and makes accessible the most accurate, current, and complete information relating to defense acquisition.

 

BBP

The Better Buying Power gateway supports an iniative of the office of the USD(AT&L) that establishes guidance for defense spending: to obtain greater efficiency and productivity, and to restore affordability and productivity.

 

iCatalog

DAU's Interactive Catalog (iCatalog) provides information regarding the University's regular (certification and assignment specific) training courses, continuous learning courses, various acquisition career field certification and Core Plus development guides, and alternate means to meet training requirements.

 

Glossary

The Glossary of Defense Acquisition Acronyms and Terms contains most acronyms, abbreviations, and terms commonly used in the systems acquisition process within the Department of Defense (DoD) and defense industries. It focuses on terms with generic DoD application but also includes some Service-unique terms.

 

MDID

The Milestone Document Identification (MDID) page is an interactive list of all the documents and actions required for each major milestone or decision point in the acquisition lifecycle, as described in DoDI 5000.02 Enclosure 4.

 

SAM

DAU’s Service Acquisition Mall (SAM) is intended to help you get your job done by providing usable tools and templates to create your performance-based service acquisition requirements. The Mall consists of “Wings” and “Stores” that contain information related to categories of service. In addition, you will find Departments that are applicable across multiple areas, not just one SAM Wing or Store.

 

CL Games

At the DAU Continuous Learning Center's portal for Continuous Learning (CL) Games, play games related to popular acquisition topics for fun and for continuous learning points.

Leadership
This topic covers a broad range of subjects relevant to acquisition leadership at all levels, such as acquisition strategies, lessons learned, ethics, management techniques, and recent initiatives that impact the acquisition workforce as a whole.
Human Capital
Includes programs about the Human Capital Strategic Plan, Core Plus, and DAWIA.
Business, Cost Estimating, and Financial Management
This field encompasses all aspects of business financial management, including cost estimating, financial planning, formulating financial programs and budgets, budget analysis and execution, and earned value management.
Contracting
This field includes the positions of contract negotiation, administrator, termination specialist, price and/or cost analysis, procuring officer, contracting officer, and procurement analysts.
Earned Value Management
Earned value is a management technique that relates resource planning to schedules and to technical cost and schedule requirements.
Government Property Management
This field includes the industrial property management specialist, property administrator, industrial plant clearance specialist, plant clearance officer, and contract and industrial specialists.
Lifecycle Logistics
Lifecycle Logistics – This field includes professionals responsible for planning, development, implementation, and management of an effective and affordable weapons, materiel, or information systems support strategies.
Production, Quality, and Manufacturing
Acquisition related manufacturing and production duties vary greatly in managerial, and administrative, and technical content, monitoring of the manufacturing and production efforts of contractors, quality assurance, quality standards, and controls.
Program Management
This field encompasses individuals concerned with the functions of a program management office (PMO) or a program executive office (PEO), including program integrators, analysts, PMOs, PEOs, and their deputies.
Science and Technology Management
This field encompasses scientific and engineering management of basic and applied research, and/or advanced technology development activities including acquiring the services of scientists, engineers, and technical support personnel to perform S&T work.
Systems Engineering
This field encompasses the technical effort to evolve and verify an integrated and total life-cycle balanced set of system, people, and process solutions that satisfy customer needs.
Test and Evaluation
This field encompasses the process by which a system or components are compared against requirements and specifications through testing. The results are evaluated to assess progress of design, performance, supportability, etc.
