Spend a year with NASA Goddard! Become a RISE Fellow.
The Solar Dynamics Observatory Crew is looking for six motivated and innovative science teachers to compose the first class of RISE Fellows. Those selected will have demonstrated their creativity, innovation, and need to the SDO crew through their application submission. Fellows will receive support and resources throughout the year from NASA education professionals and a chance to network and form lasting relationships with other educators.
The purpose of the SDO RISE fellowship is to form a long term relationship with local teachers, giving them access to NASA resources, professional development and classroom support. RISE is open to teachers in the DC metro area who teach in grades K-12. In the first year of this program 6 teachers will be chosen as fellows. Those teachers will be invited to participate in the following schedule:

Teachers selected for the fellowship will be required to meet minimum participation requirements and have the permission of their principal. In addition, teachers will need to participate in our program evaluation. Program evaluation requirements will include the following:
To apply to become an SDO RISE Fellow, complete the application form and checklist, and send them to the address listed, postmarked by September 10, 2010.
Finalists will be notified buy September 20th and will be scheduled for a phone interview.
Fellows will be selected by September 30th, 2010.
