O*NET Data Collection

On November 26, 2018, OMB approved a three-year extension of the O*NET Data Collection effort. In 2018, the O*NET project sought OMB approval for this extension. As part of the clearance process, public comments were sought on the data collection. A Federal Register Notice , published on March 30, 2018, announced the availability to the public of the O*NET "Information Collection Request" (ICR). The 60-day public comment period concluded on May 29, 2018. The final ICR was submitted to OMB on October 1, 2018.

Data Publication Schedule

The O*NET 25.1 database represents the most recent update resulting from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approved data collection program. This database release includes an update of 100 occupations from job incumbent and occupational expert sources. The schedule below provides both past and targeted publication dates, along with the numbers of occupations scheduled for update during each release period.

821 occupations have been updated by job incumbents and occupational experts to date. You can view the full list of updated occupations online. 701 of these occupations have more than one update. You can view the list of occupations with more than one update as well.

Occupational Code Assignment

On September 24, 2019, OMB approved a three-year extension of the Occupational Code Assignment (OCA) process. In 2019, the Department of Labor sought OMB approval for this extension. A Federal Register Notice , published on August 23, 2019, announced the submission for OMB review and a comment request on the "Information Collection Request" (ICR), downloadable below in PDF format. The public comment period concluded on September 23, 2019.
