Other Data Access

NCDC database systems store enormous amounts of weather and climate data and provide a means to safely preserve that data for future generations.

Database Systems

  • Service Records Retention System (SRRS)
The Service Records Retention System (SRRS) is a subset of mostly alphanumeric products contained within NOAAPort/National Weather Service Family of Services. This archive consists of products primarily issued by the National Weather Service and includes watches, warnings/advisories, and forecasts (both public, marine and aviation). The online data holdings begin in April 2001 and continue to present day. Additional offline data exists back to 1983 and can be obtained by contacting NCDC Customer Support at ncdc.orders@noaa.gov or (828) 271-4800.

Web Services

  • NCDC Web Service
These web services, set up by NCDC, allow users to have programmatic access to NCDC data and use custom and standard implementations such as OGC GIS Web Services (WMS, WFS, WCS) and OPeNDAP. Some services allow users to download data in a variety of formats such as CSV, XML, Shapefile, KMZ, and NetCDF.
