WASHINGTON , D.C. – Representative Ann Wagner (R-MO) today issued the following statement as the House of Representatives passed the “Require A Plan Act”:

“Every day hard-working middle-class families and small business owners from the 2nd District of Missouri create budgets, set priorities and live within their means.  Yet Senate Democrats have failed to pass a budget in four years, and once again President Obama missed his deadline to submit a budget on time to the American people.   This is simply unacceptable.

“The time for action is now, and we must take this opportunity to balance our budget so that we can finally grow our economy out of this economic downturn and increase the standard of living for hard-working middle-class families.  That’s why I voted for the “Require a Plan Act” because it would force President Obama to tell the American people how and when he would balance the budget.

“House Republicans have passed a responsible budget in each of the last two years that promotes economic growth while addressing our crippling debt, and we will do it again.  The 113th Congress was elected to tackle the big problems – and there is no greater problem facing our nation right now than our out-of-control spending and debt.”
