The U.S. Embassy would like to inform all U.S. Citizens that local press is reporting that a violent protest is currently taking place at the National University. While the protestors have restricted their movements to the campus and Police are currently on the scene, all U.S. citizens are advised to avoid the University and immediate surrounding area.
As always, we advise U.S. Citizens that even demonstrations that are meant to be peaceful can become violent and unpredictable. You should avoid them if at all possible. Be alert and aware of your surroundings and pay attention to what the local news media has to say.

The U.S. Embassy would like to inform all U.S. Citizens that local press is reporting that social organizations in Bogota are planning two marches in the city today to protest recent violence by the FARC. The first march is expected to start at 10:00 AM at Cra. 7 and Calle 127 and head to Plaza Bolivar. The second march is expected to begin at the same time at Parque Nacional and likewise end at Plaza Bolivar. All U.S. Citizens are advised of the importance of avoiding demonstrations and should take into account likely traffic disruptions when planning their day.
