Births Abroad
Documenting your Colombian-born Child as a U.S Citizen
What is a Consular Report of Birth Abroad?
If your child is under 18, was born outside of the United States, and qualifies for U.S. citizenship, your child can be issued a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. Consular Reports of Birth Abroad serve as proof of U.S. citizenship.
Consular Reports of Birth Abroad cannot be used to travel. If your child will travel you should also apply for a U.S. passport.
