Privacy Overview

We care about privacy and are fully committed to the appropriate handling of individual information entrusted to us. Our primary mission is to protect the security of the nation's transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. Our relationship with you is one of our most fundamental assets and we will do our best to respect and protect the privacy of individuals affected by our transportation security activities.

We do this by collecting, maintaining and disclosing information about you in accordance with Federal privacy laws and regulations. We will provide you with notice of the collection in appropriate circumstances. We will maintain your information securely and in accordance with the Federal Information Security Management Act. We will disclose your information only with your consent, by statute or pursuant to a routine use established in a published system of records notice. Under the E-Government Act of 2002, we will conduct a Privacy Impact Assessment to evaluate the impacts that an information system may have on privacy and the ways in which they may be mitigated. We will not maintain records about your exercise of rights guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution unless expressly authorized by law.
