Office of Civil Rights and Liberties

Mission of the External Compliance and Public Outreach Division (ECPOD)

To ensure that the civil rights and liberties of the traveling public are respected in TSA’s programs and activities.

Compliance Mission:

  • To conduct inquiries and respond to complaints of unlawful discriminatory treatment from the traveling public about TSA’s security screening programs and activities.
  • For Travelers: Filing a Complaint

Policy Guidance Mission:

  • To provide civil rights and liberties guidance in the review of TSA's existing and proposed policies and programs.

Education Mission:

  • To ensure that TSA provides comprehensive cultural awareness training to the security workforce.
  • To provide easily understandable information to the traveling public about what to expect from TSA's programs and activities.

Outreach Mission:

  • To engage with community leaders and members about their experiences with TSA’s programs and activities.
