Olson Appointed to the Committee on Science & Technology, Committee on Homeland Security

Washington, DC- Congressman Pete Olson (TX-22) was appointed to both the Committee on Science and Technology and the Committee on Homeland Security.

With Olson’s appointment to the Committee on Science and Technology, the interests of the aerospace community in the 22nd district, and of the Johnson Space Center in particular, will have a strong advocate to ensure America’s space program remains vibrant both now and into the future.

“I am very pleased that Rep. Olson has been tapped to join the Science and Technology Committee in the 111th Congress,” said the Committee’s Ranking Member, Rep. Ralph Hall (TX-4).  “I am confident that Pete’s aviation experience and enthusiasm for space issues will make him an asset to the Committee, as we work to support NASA and promote science and technology to help and protect the American people.  This Committee will be tackling some very pressing issues in the next Congress, and I’m happy to have my fellow Texan’s support.”

From his perch as a member of the Committee on Homeland, Mr. Olson will face several issues, from emerging threats to securing our borders to overseeing efficient management in the preparation and restoration of any disasters, be it natural or unnatural.

“I look forward to serving on both committees,” stated an optimistic Olson, “no matter if it is securing our borders and keeping the United States safe or helping reach further into space and finding new alternatives in energy, the issues are real, and are on the forefront of the concerns of America.”
