USPS Package Intercept

With USPS® Package Intercept™, you can redirect a mailpiece you’ve sent. If your mailpiece has not been delivered or released for delivery, you can have it redirected back to the original sender’s address or to a different address. Retail and commercial customers can request this service for packages, letters, and flats with barcodes.

How It Works

Shipments are intercepted at the initial destination delivery unit and redirected by request of the shipper.

First, use the Track & Confirm tool to get the tracking information of your mailpiece. If your mailpiece hasn’t been delivered or released for delivery, you can request USPS Package Intercept service.

If you’re a commercial customer, you can request that your domestic mailpiece be redirected back to the sender, to a new address, or to a Post Office™ as Hold For Pickup service by registering at the Business Customer Gateway and submitting your request online.

If you’re a retail customer, you can have your domestic mailpiece redirected back to the sender by submitting a PS Form 1509, Sender’s Request for USPS Package Intercept Service, at any Post Office location.
