Scholarships for Military Kids Eligible students can still apply for the 2013 Scholarships for Military Children program. A minimum of one $1500 scholarship will be awarded at every commissary location where qualified applications are received. The scholarship can be used to pay for tuition, books, lab fees, and other related expenses.
DoDEA Receives Further Guidance on Budgetary Uncertainty Last month the National Military Family Association met with Department of Defense Educational Activity (DoDEA) Director Marilee Fitzgerald to discuss what impact the ongoing budget crisis might have on children who attend DoD schools in the U.S. and overseas.
Updated Website Offers Resources for Military Kids The Defense Department created MilitaryKidsConnect, a website that includes age-appropriate games and activities designed to help children manage challenges such as moving and deployment.The site also includes pages for parents, caregivers, and teachers which offer strategies for helping children cope and links to useful resources.
