As the Voice of America marked its 70th anniversary, it was honored to receive video congratulations from world figures including the Dalai Lama.
Recently, VOA received this photo of an early interview with the Dalai Lama. The photograph was sent in by the granddaughter of Lillard Hill, the former VOA broadcaster and New Delhi bureau chief who conducted the interview. Hill passed away in 2009. The picture was taken shortly after the Dalai Lama fled Tibet in 1959.
