4/7/2011 - MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- Misawa Personnel,
Misawa leadership is engaged in once again returning the installation to normal operation. Off base electricity was temporarily shut down again due to the earthquake. There is not a firm estimate as to when the power will be restored at this time. We are once again employing generators to bring community facilities back into operation just as we did several weeks ago. As information develops we will distribute it via AFN radio, FACEBOOK, handouts and at the EFACC. Thank you for your patience as we work to recover.
All 35th Fighter Wing personnel are to report to their normal work centers on Friday 8 April at normal times. Unit Commanders will determine accountability and ability to work and retain essential personnel. Release of personnel is at unit commander discretion.
Volunteer efforts to "do it" via Misawa Helps are temporarily suspended.
All housing tower structures have been inspected and were not damaged. They are 100% safe to occupy. Do not use elevators in the towers until further notice. We will inform you when safety inspections are complete and the elevators are certified as safe to use.
