The General and Mrs. Matthew B. Ridgway Military History Research Grant
     

The purpose of the General and Mrs. Matthew B. Ridgway Military History Research Grant is to encourage the study of military history by facilitating the use of the holdings of the U.S. Army Military History Institute.

Recipients must be scholars at the graduate, postgraduate, or instructor/professor level, or be a professional scholars or authors with comparable qualifications based on experience. They must be writing theses, dissertations, or books on significant subjects that are well supported in the MHI holdings. We accept applications on the understanding that awards will occur at the sole discretion of the Director, U.S. Army Military History Institute and that this decision is final.

Grants may be used as reimbursement for documented research expenses at the Institute (travel, lodging, meals, copying) up to the amount of the award. Applications must be postmarked by December 31 of each year. The number of awards and amount of each is decided during the annual review. Recent grants have generally ranged from $500 to $2500. Notifications generally are made in late January or early February.
