Abstract: This report summarizes activities of the National Advisory Council on Nursing Education and its view on the current state of nursing. It addresses policy on available nursing education funds, requirements for increasing the diversity of the nurse workforce, factors that challenge the ability of nurses to provide safe patient care, and the current nursing shortage.
