Command Master Chief, Marine Forces Reserve


 
Master Chief Cousin a native of Slidell, La., and a graduate of Slidell High School who enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1984 and attended Naval Recruit Training Command San Diego, Ca.

Upon completion of Naval Recruit Training he immediately attended Naval School Health Sciences Basic Hospital Corps “A” School November 1984. After Graduating from Hospital Corpsman “A” School in February 1985, He was ordered to Field Medical Service School and awarded the 8404 Navy Enlisted Classification in April 1985.
 
His first parent command was Naval Hospital Oakland as a ward corpsman. He was then assigned as a Sick Call Corpsman at the Branch Medical Clinic Mare Island, Ca. until September 1987, at which time he was discharged from active duty and affiliated with 3rd Bn 23rd Marines H&S Co as a drilling reservist.

In October 1989 he re-enlisted and received orders to MCLB Branch Medical Clinic Albany, Ga. until February 1992, subsequent assignments include USS HALYBURTON (FFG 40) February 1992- May 1994, Naval Healthcare Support Office, Jacksonville, FL. May 1994 – Apr 1997, Field Medical Service School Instructor, Camp Lejuene, NC. Apr 1997 – October 1998, Naval Healthcare Support Office (POMI) November 1998 – April 2000, Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman April 2000 – May 2001, USS INCHON(MCS 12) June 2001 - July 2002 (DECOM), USS DOYLE(FFG 39) July 2002 – August 2004, Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL August 2004 – January 2005, Naval Ambulatory Care Clinic New Orleans, La., February 2005 – June 2006, and from June 2006 – May 2010 Health Services Support Senior Enlisted Leader with Headquarters Marine Forces Reserve where he attended the US Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and graduated in September 2008.

Prior to being selected for a GWOT Support Assignment as the CJTF-HOA; he was promoted to the rank of Master Chief and assigned as Surgeon Cell Senior Enlisted Leader where he supported operation missions in the CJOA as a Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman (SFIDC). He was selected for the CMC/COB program in January 2011 and was ordered to the Command Naval Leadership School in Newport, RI., where he earned the NEC 9580(Command Master Chief) in June 2011.

He is currently assigned as the Command Master Chief of Marine Forces Reserve.

His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (6), Good Conduct (5), Naval Reserve Good Conduct, National Defense Medal (2), GWOT Expeditionary /Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon and various other unit awards.

He received his B.S.H.S. and M.S.H.S. Degree from Trident University in June 2006 and December 2009 respectively.
