10/18/2011 - MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- After the consumption of alcohol, this edition's "feature 15" award-winning airman assaulted his mistress and lied to Security Forces personnel and his chain of command here 2 Sept.
The affair between the airman and his mistress began approximately five months prior via the internet, which led her to Misawa Air Base where she was introduced as the airman's "step-sister."
Though the airman was married, he became overly jealous of the mistress' s former boyfriends and went on a drinking binge.
Throughout the evening and early morning of the assault, the airman and the mistress argued over whom would pay to send the mistress home. To remove herself from the situation, the mistress decided to go for a walk. When she returned she found all of her belongings being held "hostage" until she removed the earrings she was currently wearing and returned them to him.
When she refused, the airman became enraged by her lack of cooperation and attempted to remove them himself. Grabbing the mistress, he threw her onto a couch, held her down and tried to tear the earrings out of her ears.
Fortunately, the mistress was able to get away from the airman and the first sergeant was called to the scene.
Ultimately, the airman found that he lost more than a chance at love; he lost a Staff Sgt. stripe and is being processed for administrative discharge.
