1/5/2012 - MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- On New Year's Day, Airman 1st Class Kyle Hawkins, 35th Force Support Squadron, Falcon Feeder shift leader and his wife, Julianna, celebrated the birth of their first born at the Misawa base hospital Jan. 1.

For one baby "Happy New Year" will also be "Happy Birthday." The baby boy arrived two days in advance of his due date, seemingly eager to join in the New Year festivities.

The baby was due to arrive on Jan. 3, when Julianna went into labor at approximately noon New Year's Day.

Julianna smiled down at her baby, her hair still wet from a recent shower. "I had a feeling we were going to have a New Year's baby," said Julianna with a small laugh.

The naming of the new born was no easy task, said Kyle.

"It was Kyle who came up with the name Adam. It was about a month before the baby was due and I thought it was cute," said Julianna as she shares a smile with Kyle.

Adam was born at 10:31 p.m. Sunday evening at the 35th Medical Group's labor and delivery room. Kyle held his infant son close, "He's 7 pounds 15 ounces and 20.5 inches," he proclaimed proudly as he smiled down at his son.

"There were no complications throughout Julianna's pregnancy," said Dr. Sara Johnstone, 35th Medical Group, Julianna's doctor. "When it was time for her to go into labor, she gave birth to Adam with no difficulties. Adam just was ready to come out."

Julianna's sister has a three year old son whom she fawns over. It was then that Julianna realized that she wanted a child.

"I always wanted a baby," says Julianna.

The young couple wasn't the only ones happy about the birth of a new member of the Air Force family. Several visitors came to the hospital and gave the small family their best wishes. Kyle and Julianna were noticeably moved by the gifts for Adam.

The Hawkins family received several gift baskets full of baby diapers, clothes and food including an extremely large white bear. The gift baskets were donated by several well-wishers including Matthew Whittaker, Misawa Commissary manager, Caleb Houdek, Exchange New Car Sales independent sales representative and Trish Reams, district manager for Web Co.

"Thank you so much." Julianna said while she held her sleeping baby close.

After the excitement of gathering the gifts and accepting the congratulations from friends and the medical staff, the Hawkins mentioned they had big plans for their son.

"I have big hopes for my son," said Kyle. "I want him to be a good man when he grows up and go to college."

Julianna echoed the same sentiments as her husband and added.

"I want him to know that he is loved," said Julianna. "I want him to have a happy life."

However, all the Hawkins are thinking about is taking their son, Adam, home.

"We're so excited!" Kyle says while cradling his son. "We can't wait to bring him home."

"We set up his room with an ocean theme, with fish and everything," Julianna added with enthusiasm.
