In 2009, the hatchery was renamed the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Fish Hatchery formerly the Pittsford National Fish Hatchery. The hatchery grows sea run Atlantic salmon, landlocked Atlantic salmon, brook trout, lake trout and oversee operations and provides technical assistance to the Berkshire National Fish Hatchery.

The mission of the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Fish Hatchery is to protect, conserve, restore and enhance aquatic resource populations in the Northeastern United States for public benefit, including recreational fishing.
