Sen. Franken Testifying at a Rail Transportation Meeting

Thursday, June 23, 2011

U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) testified at a hearing held by the Surface Transportation Board (STB), telling the agency that the current anti-competitive nature of the railroad industry is hurting many of Minnesota's industries. Sen. Franken urged the Board to take action to make the industry more competitive so that shippers like agricultural producers and manufacturers aren't forced to use a single carrier who can impose unreasonable rates and tariffs.
