Misawa Spotlight: Senior Airman Stephanie Victor
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Stephanie Victor, 35th Communications Squadron postal clerk, is this week’s spotlight Airman at Misawa Air Base, Japan. Victor was chosen because of her hard-working personality and willingness to go the extra mile during and after work. Victor volunteers her off-duty hours to the Misawa Islanders’ dance and entertainment organization and the Focus 5/6 Organization. Victor also spends her time going to school and working towards her Community College of the Air Force degree. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman Kenna Jackson/Released)

35th Communications Squadron

5/16/2012 - MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan --

Nominees rank and name: Senior Airman Stephanie B. Victor, 35th Communications Squadron postal clerk.

Where are you from?
I was born and raised a military child, and grew up mainly around Japan. I was born on Yokota Air Base, and spent most of my life at Misawa and Kadena Air Bases, and at a few other locations like England and Alaska.

What's your favorite thing about being stationed in Japan?
The culture and the food! I am blessed to have the chance to come here again and experience what most people around the world would die to get the chance to do.

Who has been your greatest Air Force mentor and what quality about this mentor do you value most?
I have the benefit of having my dad, retired Master Sgt. Willard Victoria, as my mentor. I don't know where I would have been without his knowledge, guidance, motivation and support. My father's best quality as a mentor is he knows what I want and keeps my best interests at heart. He leads by example and still holds the core values to heart. He passes his expertise to troops at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, myself and my sisters in the Navy.

What is your primary professional goal at this point in your career?
My primary goal is to make staff sergeant my first time and complete my Community College of the Air Force degree in mechanical and electrical engineering. I have been prepped and ready to take my education to the next level. I hope to be a great supervisor for my troops and pass down knowledge and guidance, and to learn from each other. Hopefully within the next few years I can excel and lead from the front to become a commissioned officer.

What motivates you?
I've always been motivated by the desire to do a good job at whatever position I'm in. I want to excel and be successful in my job. My motivation is my ability to work hard and deliver the best results; both for my own personal satisfaction and for the post office customers.

Describe the best day of your life.
The best days of my life would have to be when I met and married my husband. We met on our flight in Dallas going to our first base, Kadena Air Base, Japan. April 15th, 2011, I married my better half, Senior Airman Alan Victor. He has truly been a blessing and I love him with all my heart.

What advice would you give to new Airmen?
Don't let negative people influence you; keep your personal values and beliefs at heart. There is always that one "dirtbag Joe" that might bring you down. Be strong, make your own decisions and make the best of your experience here.

Supervisor's comment:
"Senior Airman Victor has shown positive attitude and support in the post office," said Staff Sgt. Pauline Jones, 35th Communications Squadron postal clerk. "She has strong leadership abilities and is working to fine tune her skills as an Airmen in the Air Force, a postal clerk and as a leader. If I had to choose someone to be my wingman I would definitely choose Airman Victor, because she can get the job done. She is truly an outstanding asset to the U.S. Air Force."
