11/1/2012 - MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- There comes a time of year where cold weather and snow prevent people from being able to do their normal running and workout routine.

The Weasels' Den moved to winter hours Nov. 1, 2012 and offers a variety of things to do inside so you can weather the Misawa winter season.

The winter hours for the Weasels' Den are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The winter hours will stay in effect until Mar. 31, 2013.

"The Weasels' Den will be open 88 hours a week during winter hours compared to the 54 hours a week we offer during regular hours," said Bill Gurr, 35th Force Support Squadron director of Outdoor Recreation. "This will allow more time for people to come in and get what they want out of the Weasels' Den."

There is more to offer at the Weasels' Den than the running track. Misawa Air Base gets more snow on average than any other base in the Air Force and the indoor soccer field offers a place to play the game when the conditions outside make it impossible to play and the playground is where children can play inside when outside playgrounds are buried in snow.

"All in all, the Weasels' Den is a great place for people to go so they can get out of the house and stay out of the cold weather," said Gurr.

If you have any questions about the Weasels' Den or any of its facilities you can call Mr. Bill Gurr at 226-5308.
