How American University is commemorating emancipation

American University in Washington, D.C. is honored to participate in the NEH’s Emancipation Resource Portal and its impressive programming for Constitution Day, September 17, 2012.

The Department of History, which is spearheading our efforts, encourages interdisciplinary study and, through our public history program, encourages students to practice history in public by collaborating with communities and cultural institutions to document and interpret both local and national histories.

Our Student History Society is excited to be able to attend Constitution Day events at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History on September 17. The NEH Emancipation Resource Portal also offers a spectacular opportunity for our community. The Honors Humanities program at the University of Maryland, College Park is delighted to participate in the NEH’s Emancipation Resource Portal. Honors Humanities is a selective program within the University of Maryland’s Honors College that teaches students to use rigorous and innovative concepts from the humanities no matter what fields they go into.
