12/14/2012 - RAF Mildenhall, England -- Gen. Mark A. Welsh III, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, extended the Air and Space Campaign Medal, awarded to personnel assigned to specific operations over the years, to those who served in both Operations Odyssey Dawn and Unified Protector.
Airmen from the 100th Air Refueling Wing supported both OOD and OUP by providing refueling support to 325 aircraft in 45 missions, totaling 275.9 million pounds of fuel off-loaded from KC-135 Stratotankers and personnel throughout Europe.
Team Mildenhall members who provided direct support for 30 consecutive days or 60 nonconsecutive days, in either of the operations, are eligible to receive the medal. In order to be considered having supported the operations directly, personnel must have either deployed in support of the operation or preformed mission critical actions from a home base.
Any Team Mildenhall member who is eligible to receive the medal should contact the 100th Force Support Squadron Force Management section.
Potential recipients must provide a copy of their contingency, exercise or deployment orders, or a travel voucher if they were deployed. If working from the U.S., an enlisted performance report or a letter from the commander is required to receive the award, said Airman 1st Class Napolean Lark, 100th FSS Force Management journeyman.
