Runyan Praises Passage Of Bipartisan Amendment to Increase Funding for First Responders

On Wednesday June 6th the House of Representatives passed an amendment to H.R. 5855, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2013. The amendment authored by Congressmen Jon Runyan (R-NJ) and Steve LaTourette (R-OH) would increase the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grants and the Assistance to Firefighter Grants (FIRE) by $2.5 Million each, bringing them to Fiscal Year 2012 levels. The amendment passed by voice vote.

On Monday May 21st, the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) issued its final recommendation to downgrade the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test to a “D” rating. Congressmen Joe Baca (D-CA) and Jon Runyan (R-NJ), Co-Chairs of the Prostate Cancer Task Force, along with Congressman Dan Burton (R-IN) and Dennis Ross (R-FL), believe the PSA test, credited with saving thousands of men’s lives, should remain a vital safeguard for men’s health.

Runyan Leads Discussion On VAWA Legislation

Congressman Jon Runyan (R-NJ) hosted a roundtable discussion about federal programs to combat domestic violence mainly the Violence Against Women Act. The roundtable was headed by Congressman Runyan and attended by local officials including Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield, Burlington County Freeholders Leah Arter and Mary Ann O’Brien. Also in attendance was the Burlington County Prosecutor’s office, the Providence House Domestic Violence Services of Catholic Charities, CONTACT of Burlington County, Tree House Haven, and Soroptimist International of Rancocas Valley.

Runyan Praises Committee Passage Of NDAA With Key Priorities For JB MDL

Congressman Jon Runyan (R-NJ) joined a majority of his colleagues of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) in voting to pass H.R. 4310, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2013. The NDAA authorizes policy and appropriations for the Department of Defense.
