Memphis, Tenn. – Port and longshore workers, truckers and others at the Port of Memphis today will begin to enroll in the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program. The program's goal is to ensure that any individual who has unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities and vessels has received a thorough background check and is not a security threat. Nationwide, more than 1 million workers with unescorted access to secure areas will apply for TWIC during the remainder of 2007 and next year.

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the appointment of Kimberly Hubbard Walton as the assistant administrator for the Office of the Special Counselor (OSC). In her previous capacity, Walton was the acting assistant administrator for OSC and the deputy special counselor for the same office.

AUSTIN, Texas – Today, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice announced a new program that will allow a select group of inmates to help care for puppies who will ultimately serve as explosives detection dogs within TSA's National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program.
