Office of Asset and Resource Management

Mission

The Office of Asset and Resource Management (OARM) provides Department-wide commercial services management programs and carries out the Department's overarching records management requirements. The major components of commercial services management includes policy setting, planning , developing and transmitting to OMB by statute the Department's annual Federal Activities Inventory Reform (FAIR) Act (P.L. 105-270) inventories of commercial and inherently governmental activities.

Commercial Services Management activities also include planning, monitoring and evaluating programs designed to achieve the optimal mix of contractors and federal employees; developing DOL-specific policies and procedures; and collaborating with key personnel in the various DOL agencies to achieve DOL-wide objectives which are centered on promoting efficiency of operations and programs.

The Department of Labor's Records Management program oversees , provides assistance to agencies and reports on their behalf managerial activities involved in records creation, maintenance, use and disposition to achieve adequate and proper documentation of the policies and transactions of the Department. These functions are provided in accordance with the statutes, rules and regulations of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Records Management Regulations, 36 CFR Parts 1220, 1228, 1230, 1232, 1234 and 1236.
