Washington, D.C. – Improving quality health care across rural Idaho will be the focus as Idaho Senator Mike Crapo joins USDA Rural Development’s Idaho Director Wally Hedrick and officials with Health West to cut the ribbon opening the new Aberdeen Health West Clinic tomorrow. The new Aberdeen Health West Clinic offers a variety of services including wellness checks, prenatal and chonic care management and it also features medical providers and visiting specialists.

Federal funding through USDA Rural Development and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services helped make the facility possible. It is the third community health center that Crapo has visited this summer.

“Community health clinics succeed because they utilize a public-private partnership to find innovative ways to contain health care costs and spotlight patient wellness programs,” Crapo said.

Crapo will also assist in bringing a federal reading model to the Fort Hall Indian Reservation Thursday when he participates in National Literacy Day events as part of the Reach Out and Read Program. Crapo will read and help distribute books to children in Fort Hall. The books are distributed free of charge through the public-private partnership of the Reach Out and Read Program.
