Develop and assist in the implementation of effective tuberculosis control strategies in both prison and civilian settings and strengthen national capacities to manage the diagnosis and treatment of TB and multi-drug resistant TB (MDR TB). 

This project aims to develop effective and efficient tuberculosis control strategies in Central Asian countries and strengthen national capacities to manage both drug susceptible TB and multi-drug resistant TB through the following objectives:

  • Scale up high quality programmatic management of MDRTB in both civil and prison sectors.
  • Improve adherence to treatment of all forms of TB through creation of sustainable systems for patient support
  • Strengthen laboratory network and capacity for rapid diagnosis of DRTB. 
  • Improve M&E system and develop operational research capacity. 
  • Introduce and support implementation of international standards for infection control in the region. 
  • Improve implementation of TB-HIV collaborative activities.
  • Improve TB control among migrants in the region.

This is a regional project implemented in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
