Packaging and Transporation

About Us

At Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Packaging and Transportation Group reviews Safety Analysis Reports for Packaging (SARPs) for EM-63, the Packaging Certification Program in the Office of Safety Management and Operations. The Packaging and Transportation Group also has written many reports for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and others and delivers a number of courses yearly to personnel from the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE), the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), contractors, and members of foreign commissions. The group also provides technical assistance in the area of establishing national standards.

The group has several decades of experience with packaging and transporting hazardous material — including the packaging and transporation of nuclear material. The group combines a high level of competence with a commitment to providing safe and secure strategies for packaging and transporting hazardous materials while meeting or exceeding NRC regulations and standards.
