190th Air Refueling Wing

The 190th Air Refueling Wing is located on Forbes Field Air National Guard Base, Topeka, Kansas. Our mission is flying the KC-135 air refueling aircraft in support of worldwide aerial refueling. Our 980+ member unit is rich in aerial history. The 190th began its Kansas history as the 117th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in Hutchinson, Kansas. In 1967 the unit moved to its current home, Forbes Field. When the 190th ARW is not mobilized or under federal control, they report to the Governor of Kansas.

<p>The safety and security of the people, property and resources of the Air National Guard is the sole mission of Security Forces. A career as a Security Forces Specialist requires extensive training in law enforcement and combat tactics since you'll work both stateside on bases and overseas where you'll often patrol off base. In this role, you'll ensure the safety of all base weapons, property and personnel from hostile forces, conduct investigations into any on-base incidents, apprehend and detain suspects, secure crime scenes and testify in judicial proceedings. You will also be involved in team patrol movements, tactical drills, battle procedures and military operations other than war. <p>As a Personnel Specialist, you'll be an integral part of your assigned personnel's career, from their first days in the Air Guard to their retirement. In this role, you'll be working with Airmen across all fields and departments, as well as with their families. You'll help them initiate and maintain their personnel records, advise them on their career development and the variety of job specialties available to them, as well as counsel military personnel and their dependents on a variety of matters that concern them as members of the Air Guard community. <p>As you can imagine, the last person to handle an aircraft before it actually takes off bears an immense responsibility to make absolutely certain that the plane is mission ready. That person is the Aerospace Maintenance Specialist. In this job, you'll be accountable for ensuring the aircraft is in perfect working order. If alterations or repairs are needed, you'll assign specialists to fix the issues and work with them to ensure the plane's safety and readiness. Pre-flight, you'll give the plane one last inspection to make sure it's serviced with fuel, hydraulic fluid and liquid oxygen before giving it your final approval.
