KC97 Restoration

WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- Members from the 509th Maintenance and Munitions Squadron restore the protective coating on a KC 97 static display August 25. The restoration, which is required ever 5 years, is scheduled to take a month. During this time Airman will sand, repaint and perform any required sheet metal repair to the KC 97. WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- Members of the 509th Maintenance Squadron, use a boom lift to sand the vertical stabilizer on a KC 97 static display while removing old protective coating and paint Aug. 25. Once removed members from the 509th Maintenance and Munitions Squadron will restore the protective coating, paint and perform any required sheet metal repair to the KC97 static display.
