Opportunities for Students, Graduates, Teachers and Faculty

Welcome

Every year, PNNL proudly provides hundreds of internships, fellowships, and other opportunities for students, graduates, and faculty. These include technical and business positions for high-school students through post-graduate research associates. Many positions are geared toward on-the-job training on research and development projects. Some also support science and engineering education.

  • Most positions and programs are at PNNL's main campus in Richland, Washington, but a few are at other locations.
  • Each type of position or opportunity has its own eligibility requirements, time frames, and deadlines to apply.

  • Pre-College
The Student Research Apprenticeship Program (SRAP) is a research-based educational internship experience for students who are members of ethnic groups traditionally under represented in science and engineering (Hispanic, African American, or Native American in ethnic origin).
  • Undergraduate
The DOE Office of Science funds the Science Undergraduate Research Intern (SULI) program at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). SULI provides 10- to 16-week summer and semester research internships to undergraduate students in the areas of science, mathematics, engineering, technology, and science policy.

Partnerships Strengthen and Advance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education

  • Strategic STEM Partnerships
Connect your school to the science world beyond the classroom—from grade school to grad school. We also offer opportunities and resources for teachers, faculty, administrators, schools, and school district officials—from kindergarten through graduate school. These opportunities support professional growth, curricula advancement, and educational reform in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
  • PNNL Leadership in science and engineering education
PNNL is a trusted and valued collaborator in the U.S. Department of Energy's Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (DOE-WDTS) Program and the region's efforts to improve science and engineering education.
