Corporals put to the test

Marines head toward their defensive position during the operations culminating portion of the Corporal’s Course Aug. 24, 2012, at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. The Corporals Course is a two-week program focused on providing the skills necessary to lead Marines and is designed to provide the war fighting skill, core values and mindset necessary for effective leadership of a team and subordinate Marines. Upon completion, corporals have the skills necessary to clearly articulate one’s thoughts in both oral and written communications; understand the standards of leadership traits, principles and fundamentals; understand the NCO mindset of "doing instead of knowing;" and execute and apply tactical measures at the team level. Functional Fitness takes over Dyess

Beach volleyball court sets Hangar Center for success

U.S. Air Force Capt. Nick Saccone, 819th Red Horse Squadron, from Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., sets a stray ball during a 2-on-2 volleyball match Aug. 18, 2012, on Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. The recently constructed sand volleyball court was made to benefit Airmen living in the dorms and bring business to the Hangar Center. Many local businesses and organizations donated money and time toward the court. The Company Grade Officers Club and Red Horse Airmen from Malmstrom AFB, Mont., volunteered their time for three weeks to move 220 tons of sand, donated by Ingram concrete.
