Scott reaches CFC goals

12/19/2012 - SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Combined Federal Campaign concluded Friday at Scott Air Force Base. The installation surpassed its goal raising $963,000.
The CFC is an international program that provides health and human service benefits to charitable organizations. Scott personnel had the opportunity to support more than 3,000 charities with a goal of $920,000.
"By giving through the Combined Federal Campaign, Scott AFB employees have responded to feed hungry neighbors, assist with disasters, an help cure and comfort people with illnesses," said Maj. Paul Strom, Team Scott CFC project officer.
"Giving also helps veterans, house the homeless, cheer up dying children, care for animals, preserve clean water, and play a role in countless other acts of charity and goodwill next door and around the world."
From the list of 3,000 charities which federal employees were able to choose from, there are 90 organizations that are serving Air Force and other military constituents as well as 156 that are designed to serve veterans.
Strom said, "Add to that the broad reach of programs that support area food-banks, provide child care, education, health care and research, improve air quality, benefit public parks and trails and you'll find that there are many hundreds of charities on the CFC list which impact the lives of every Scott AFB employee in numerous ways."
