Clinic hours of operation:
0730-1830 M-TH & 0730-1630 F.  Your specific work hours will depend on your CI’s schedule and various preceptors’ schedules. Please arrive early enough to begin seeing patients at 0730.

Housing:
Civilian students may inquire, as far in advance as possible, by calling 910-678-7201 (SRAHEC) about possible housing options.

Dress:
Civilians: Business casual / Military: ACUs

Preparation:
The following items are required:

• Current Immunizations a. MMR, b. PPD, c. HEP B series, d. Varicela (Chicken Pox)
• Current CPR/BLS card
• Civilians Only: Open the files attached and complete SF 85P (Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions)

Additional Helpful Instructions:

• Completion of the background check will require a birth certificate or passport.
• In order to have computer access the above information assurance training must be completed. 
• The following item is not required but will make civilian access to Ft. Bragg, NC less obtrusive:
• complete and email to WAMCGME@amedd.army.mil
• Review orthopedic special tests and goniometry skills.  Read various sources that describe common orthopedic surgery procedures and post-operative rehabilitation (ACLR, meniscus repair, RTC repair, ORIF tib-fib fx, subacromial decompressions, laminectomy/discectomy, SLAP and Bankart repairs).  Review common over-use and acute injuries (ITBS, patella/achilles/RTC tendinopathy, PFPS, shoulder impingement, ankle/knee sprains, shoulder dislocations, plantar fasciitis).      
• Student Orientation- Day #1:
• 0730: Check in with Physical Therapy Department CCCE
• 0800: Escorted to GME - ground floor
• 1300-1630/1830: Introduction to CI, Observation, Orientation to assigned area, Initial Counseling by CI   

Your experience:
The majority of your time will be devoted to the practice of outpatient orthopedic physical therapy.  The practice model emphasizes patient evaluation, management, treatment plan development, limited medication management, imaging, direct consultation and delegation by the physical therapist.  The majority of treatments are performed by technicians and physical therapy assistants.  Evaluations and re-evaluations are allocated 45 and 30 minutes respectively. 

Students who will be present for 4 months or longer may have the opportunity to rotate among various disciplines:

• Physical Medicine
• Radiology                             
• OT
• Aquatics                                
• Amputee Rehab (high level)
• Neuro Rehab
• Acute Care
• Pediatrics

Last Day:
On last day of rotation- report back to GME office – Return ID badge and submit a copy of rotation evaluation.
