The Department of Commerce Web Advisory Council (WAC -, previously refered to as the Web Advisory Group (WAG)), was established to support the management of the Department’s Web sites, to achieve compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and OMB directives, and to support high quality information services to the public.
The WAC develops policies to aid in the implementation of applicable laws, regulations, and directives and provides recommendations to the Department of Commerce Chief Information Officer (DOC CIO) and the Department of Commerce CIO Council on Web-related matters.
The WAC Web site is provided to the Department's Web managers and developers to ensure that they are aware of all mandatory Policies and recommended Best Practices. The site also provides links to resources and guidance on how to comply with the Department's Policies and Best Practices.
All DOC Web sites must comply with the Policies listed on this site. Each Operating Unit Chief Information Officer is required to certify annually that all Web sites comply with the Policies published on this site.
