1ST MARINE CORPS DISTRICT, GARDEN CITY, N.Y. --
Marines from the Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps performed live at the Intrepid Air and Space Museum and the Fox New Studios in New York City, Sept. 11, 2006.
Both performances were warmly received by hundreds of native New Yorker and tourists, who flocked to the city to take part in memorials marking the fifth anniversary of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Marines assigned to 1st Marine Corp District Headquarters in Garden City, N.Y. were also in attendance along with the District's Enhanced Marketing Vehicle, a bright-red Hummer complete with Marine Corps Graphics and a fully loaded audiovisual system.
"It's good to see the Marines here in New York today," said Drew Franklin, 25 year-old New Yorker, who stopped to watch the Drum and Bugle Corps perform outside of Fox Studios in Manhattan. "It reminds people of the sacrifices our military makes daily for our freedoms."
