Green Your Holiday Scene!
Did you know that the amount of household garbage in the United States can increase by 25 percent between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, from 4 million tons to 5 million tons? So what can you do to be green this holiday season?
Here are a few tips:
- Turn off or unplug holiday lights during the day.
- Donate the older toys that you no longer use to charities.
- Wrap gifts in recycled or reused wrapping paper or newspapers.
- Compost leftover food scraps and leaves.

many people often buy water in small plastic bottles then throw them away, next day they buy another one and so on. I try use one bottle for 2-3 weeks, before I went to work I always fill it with fresh water. I wish all do this…

I never was a sustainable person, but I had sustainability class in high school, and it made me realize that it can be useful, and there is no point of wasting energy. I think preventing garbage after holidays can be a good way of being sustainable.
I think it is so important to keep the green these days. Especially, with materials and items that we have control over. There are so many other ways the our world is being polluted and at this time we have no way around them. Giving up plastic bottles should be a piece of cake.
