Officer
Begin or continue your professional military career while further broadening your experience and honing your leadership skills.
The Air Guard is the perfect place to begin or continue your professional military career while expanding your experience and knowledge. As an officer in the Air Guard, you'll develop leadership skills you can't get in the civilian world. You'll serve as a mentor to your Airmen and earn the respect that comes when you're a leader. You'll serve part-time, close to home, and reap the same benefits as an active duty military officer. Officers are subject to distinct application requirements, with selection and commissioning opportunities contingent on the responsibilities and manning of each individual unit. Based on the unit's needs, officers are often selected from enlisted members within the unit, but there are plenty of opportunities available for incoming Air Guard members as well. Among the minimum requirements for becoming an officer, non-prior service applicants must be less than 35 years old before the date of appointment.
