10,000 Electronic Books from JPL Library

April 18th, 2011

Do you know that the JPL Library provides access to more than 10,000 electronic books?  These are available to all JPLers, and what’s even better is that there is no need for specialized devices to read them.  All of the ebooks from JPL Library are in PDF, so you can read them on your desktop/laptop computers or move them to your tablet or mobile devices.  Of course, you can also print them if you wish.

There are multiple ways to find and access JPL ebooks.  One way is to search the JPL Library’s BEACON Catalog; another is to go to the BEACON eBook page to see the major collections.

JPL ebooks are focused in the subject areas of physics and astronomy, math, computer science , and engineering.   Library staff has made short lists of ebooks on the following topics; click on any of them to see a list of titles.  You can access the lists from anywhere, but you can only read the full text if you are within the JPL network:

Artificial Intelligence Astrobiology Astronomy

Climate Communications Computational  Electromagnetics

Computer Science Information Retrieval LabView

Machine Learning MatLab Mobile Computing

Oceanography Semantic Web Signal Processing

Solar Systems Visualization

Additional lists can be compiled.  Contact the Reference Desk via email at library@jpl.nasa.gov or call 4-4200 for any questions regarding electronic books from JPL Library.
