Intelligence Division

Missions

The Intelligence Division collects, analyzes and provides the timely dissemination of intelligence to other TTB divisions in support of their regulatory and law enforcement functions. ID includes the Risk Management Branch (RM), which develops, implements, and maintains risk analysis and statistical evaluation programs for field operations missions.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting pertinent information from the other TTB divisions; commercial and law enforcement databases; and, through liaison with counterparts from other State, Federal, and foreign intelligence and law enforcement organizations.
  • Performing intelligence analysis on collected data for the purpose of (1) identifying and developing potential targets for further action by Field Operations; (2) supporting open cases in the Field; and (3) identifying trends and schemes utilized to facilitate potential violations.
  • Disseminating intelligence in a timely manner to TTB, mainly in the form of reports, referrals, or information papers.
  • Using risk management principles to identify audit and investigative targets to be used in the TAD and TID annual operating plan.
  • Performing statistical analyses for the purpose of supporting various field operations programs.
  • Administering the TTB-IRS Interagency Agreement under the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2010, Public Law 11-117, for investigating and preparing for prosecution viable criminal cases involving violations of tax and trade laws under TTB's jurisdiction, and related laws.
